It's an interesting site, sure. I'm not sure how "in to it" I could get though. My experience with Stack Overflow so far:

Log in with OpenID. Spend an hour learning all about OpenID since I haven't used it before and it seems interesting. Ask my question about C++. Come back 10 minutes later to find a helpful answer. Click 'rate up' to be told I can't rate up because I don't have enough reputation. Think enough of the answer that I want to get more reputation so I can rate the answer up. Try to look for unanswered C++-related questions. Fumble around with various ways of sorting questions and filtering out tags but can't for the life of me get it ordered by recent unanswered questions tagged with C++ - there are always .NET and web questions all over the place, or it's sorting by how interesting questions are (which inevitably goes hand in hand with how many times they've been viewed or answered) rather than how fresh they are. Get fed up and leave. Figure I'll come back when I have another question to ask but not bother answering things until they sort out their... sorting.

I'm really glad that you chose Stack Overflow for your first site-of-the-month post; it's such a good resource! Thanks for the link too; much appreciated :-)

Re: hiding questions with specific tags. There's a well-hidden option on your profile page to completely hide ignored tags. Click the preferences tab on your profile, and then check the "Hide ignored tags" box just underneath your list of ignored tags. It took me a while (and a bit of Googling, I think) to find it! I've found this filters out all the C/C++ questions quite nicely for me ;-)

There's also quite a large body of non-.NET questions these days, which I hope makes it a more compelling resource for developers working outside the MS ecosystem. I keep track of the Java and PHP questions too, and these tag seem to have grown to a decent size.

It certainly beats the crap out of Experts Exchange! ;-)
